K-9 Trainer Program
This course is designed for the individual who is seeking certification as a K9 trainer. During this extensive 8-week course, you will obtain the skills and techniques to not only select and train police canines but K9 handlers as well. This comprehensive course will equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to train single and dual-purpose dogs, detection dogs (narcotics and explosives), patrol dogs, tracking dogs, protection dogs, and more.
K-9 Handler Training
Course lengths are set to ensure optimum performance of K9 teams once they go on duty. During the length of the course, handlers work with multiple dogs, participate in offsite searches in actual schools, halfway houses, trailers, etc., participate in veterinary consultations, and work on many other hands-on tasks to gain knowledge from real-world experience. Handlers also engage in classroom and applied instruction in proper maintenance of K9 performance and health, as well as procedures and record keeping.
Narcotics Detection K9 Handler Training
The narcotics detection program is a two-week course for new or experienced K9 handlers to obtain the skills to effectively control and operate their K9 partner. Throughout this course, handler training will include on and off-leash obedience; detection of a variety of narcotics, including marijuana, heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine, and derivatives thereof; records maintenance and courtroom testimony, as well as First-Aid and canine maintenance. Upon successful completion of the course, students will be awarded Worldwide Canine's Handler and Canine Certification.
Explosive Detection K9 Handler Training
This is a three-week course for new or experienced K9 handlers to obtain the skills to effectively control and operate their K9 partner. Throughout this course, handler training will include on and off-leash obedience; detection of Smokeless Powder, Detonation Cord, C-1, PETN, C-4, Flex-X, Ammonium Nitrate, Dynamite, TNT, Slurry Gel and Chlorates; records maintenance and courtroom testimony as well as First-Aid and canine maintenance. Upon successful completion of the course, students will be awarded Worldwide Canine's Handler and Canine Certification.
Dual Purpose K9 Handler Training
This is a three-week course for new or experienced K9 handlers to obtain the skills to effectively control and operate their K9 partner. Throughout this course, handler training will include detection training as well as on and off-leash obedience, attack, bite, hold, out, re-attack, stay/watch, standoff, building search, felony search, attack under gunfire, article search, tracking, records maintenance, and courtroom testimony as well as First-Aid and canine maintenance. Upon completion of the course, students will be awarded Worldwide Canine's Handler and Canine Certification.
